In Women’s Premier Division, the top two sides sent reminders to the rest of the division of their intentions with emphatic victories over their opponents. Bowdon Hightown remain nine points clear thanks to an 8-0 hammering of local rivals Poynton, Tina Cullen found the Poynton net four times. Meanwhile, Olton & WW put twelve past Chelmsford, whose hapless season continues, Denise Marston-Smith scored four times and Olton Chelmsford’s fate could have been worse had Olton not missed a penalty stroke in the 50th minute.
Chelmsford also went down 0-4 against Clifton in a replayed fixture on Sunday. Ipswich remain in the relegation play-off place having lost 1-3 at home against Clifton, they remain two points behind Trojans who were beaten by the odd goal at home to Slough. Laura Nicholls made a fight of the game with twelve minutes left on the clock, but Trojans were unable to complete the fight back and take any points, Slough remain in third place. Leicester’s 3-0 home win, aided by Anne Panter’s two goals, meant that they usurped their opponents, in the league table, moving one point above Canterbury.
