England Netballers look impressive down under

Coach Marg Caldow opted to blood 17 year old newcomer to the side Jo Harten in the first two matches, and the tall shooter did not disappoint, scoring freely and fitting into the line up with ease as England dismissed state league sides Arials 55 22 and Melbourne Central 61 27. Team Bath's Jo Binns impressed at WA in both games.

For the third match of the tour Caldow opted for a more experienced front line against Australia U21 with GA Pamela Cookey virtually unstoppable, shooting at 97% as the England side cruised to a 69-49 win over the young Australia side. England's shooting, often a troublesome area, was impressive overall, with the side netting 69 of 75 attempts while a dominant centre court performance from Binns, Karen Atkinson and Jade Clarke enabled the visitors to convert 80% of their centre pass opportunities.

The tour continues with further practice matches before England face Australia, world ranked no 2, in a training game, as both sides continue their build up to the World Championships, to be held in Auckland in November.
