The Women’s Premier Division double header produced another two wins for both Bowdon Hightown and Slough, both teams unwilling to be the first to relent to the pressure.
Bowdon Hightown’s wins came as part of their away trip to the South East of England winning comfortably 6-1 at Chelmsford and 4-2 at Canterbury having asserted a 4-0 lead early in the second half. Slough’s Sunday game went close against Clifton, but they ran out 3-2 winners, whilst their Saturday game at home to (at the time) bottom of the table Poynton ended in a nervy 1-0 victory, Jane Smith’s goal the decider in the seventh minute.
Poynton took the emphasis from that close result into their trip to Old Loughtonian’s which saw them move off of bottom spot, condemning their opponents to replace them at the foot of the table. Helen Armishaw shot them to victory in the 47th minute from a penalty corner. the pressure.
