For Lucy Dawkins, Rebecca Halle, Rebecca McGuiness and Sam Cathie the UK School Games marks their first time representing England and for those who have previously been involved in England’s junior teams, the UK School Games provides them with their first taste of a multi-sport event. In total, more than 1500 athletes from nine sporting disciplines will take part in the UK School Games which are designed to replicate the feel of similar major events such as the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Commenting on hockey’s UK School Games debut, England Hockey Performance Director David Faulkner said, “The UK School Games offers a truly unique multisport experience for hockey in the UK and will provide a hugely important performance learning tool for our U18 athletes and the team staff. I would urge every athlete and staff member to embrace the ethos of the UK School Games and to learn as much as possible about the challenges and positive experiences that this unique UK event will provide them for in their future hockey careers.”

England’s girls will be led by Head Coach Martin Rogers, assisted by Ben Barnes. The team manager for the competition is Richard Beer (girls).
