Susannah Townsend scored twice for EuroCanterbury, as did teammate Rebecca Weston, to guide her side to a 7-2 away win over Olton & WW. Possessing a slender one goal lead over their opponents, at half time, the Kent side scored five in a ten minute period to close out the game after Lisa Hunter had drawn the scores level in the 41st minute for Olton.
Leicester beat third placed University of Birmingham 4-0, a resounding victory that opened up a four point gap between the two sides. Crista Cullen’s penalty corner skills were welcomed back in Leicester with the GB and England international scoring twice, once in each half, from set plays.
Bowdon Hightown triumphed over North West rivals Brooklands Poynton thanks to Sally Walton’s late winner in the 68th minute. Hightown were forced to come back from a two goal deficit after Helen Armishaw’s two goals, but Tina Cullen’s cool head brought her team back into contention by scoring twice before Walton’s winner.
Clifton put further distance between themselves and the relegation spots with a 4-2 win over Cannock. The two teams had faced each other in the promotion tournament in May where Clifton had then, too, been the victors, albeit by just the one goal advantage.
Fourth is no good enough
