Distribution for the 2009/10 European Cup competitions
In due time prior to the start of the 2008/09 season in the National Leagues in Europe, the EHF is ready to publish the place distribution for the 2009/10 European Cup competitions. Even though, this place distribution will only affect the EHF Champions League competition starting in one year from now, this information is essential for the distribution of the places out of the domestic competitions in Europe.
Denmark defended their no. 1 position in the Women's ranking, but Russia is now only about three points behind after winning the EHF Women's Champions League (Zvezda Zvenigorod) as well as the EHF-Cup (Dinamo Volgograd).
Basically, the 2009/10 EHF Women's Champions League will see no change in the top positions as the same seven Federations (Denmark, Russia, Hungary, Norway, Spain, Rumania and Slovenia) will have two starting spots in the competition while the remaining Federations have one place available.
Please remember, that the EHF European Cup Ranking List is a result of the clubs' performance in all four EHF club competitions over a period of three seasons. Consequently, the present ranking for the 2009/10 season includes the results of the 2005/06 season, the 2006/07 season and the 2007/08 season.
