A hat-trick from Alex Danson helped Reading secure an emphatic 10-0 victory over Cannock in Sunday’s Investec Women’s Premier Division clash.
Danson scored twice in the first half to help Reading lead 6-0 at the break, while Becky Halle also bagged two goals before half time and Liana Smith scored on 28 minutes.
After the break, Danson added another, as did Smith, while other scorers were Helen Richardson, Sam Quek and Jess Brooker.
On Saturday, two goals in the final five minutes from Jo Leigh helped Clifton snatch victory from the jaws of defeat and secure a dramatic 3-2 victory over Olton and West Warwickshire in the Investec Women’s Premier Division on Saturday.
After Georgie Twigg (pictured) had given Clifton an early lead from a penalty corner two minutes in, Olton hit back to level with Emma McCabe scoring on 20 minutes.
They took the lead with Naomi James scoring from a penalty stroke in the 48th minute, and looked to have done enough for victory.
However, Leigh scored on 65 minutes to level the match, and then bagged the winner in the 69th minute to deny Olton the win.
Elsewhere, Slough also secured a late win with two goals in the final three minutes to take a 3-2 victory over the University of Birmingham.
Slough had led 1-0 at half time after Lauren Penny’s 14th minute goal, but the visitors hit back with goals from Tina Evans and Alice Sharp on 40 and 51 minutes.
However, with two minutes remaining penny bagged her second to level the match, and Alex Scott then scored the winner a minute later.
Leicester beat Bowdon Hightown with Crista Cullen and Hannah Macleod scoring their goals.
In the West Conference, three second half goals in an 11-minute purple patch helped leaders Buckingham win 4-2 and inflict Gloucester City’s first defeat of the season.
Sam Sandham scored Buckingham’s first half goal, then Jessica Bloom scored on 57 minutes, Lauren Thomas on 62 minutes and Anita Bazini on 68 minutes to help them secure the win.
Barnes Hounslow Ealing were left frustrated after they were held to a goalless draw by bottom of the table Team Bath Buccaneers.
Trojans and Staines also drew, 2-2 in their clash. Caroline Thorne and Rebecca Van Berkel scored for Trojans, while Staines’ goals came from Sue O’Connell and Catriona Bausor.
Exe won 3-2 over Isca, with goals from Sarah Payne, Linda Webb and Kate Grainger.
In the East Conference, high-flying Ipswich had to settle for a 3-3 draw after visitors Chelmsford bagged a 69th minute goal through Loren Sherer, which added to earlier goals from Becky Budd and Kate Taylor. For Ipswich, Annika Broster scored two and Charlotte Anderson one.
Trailing 1-0 at half time, Sevenoaks battled back in style after the break with two goals from Heather Batten and one from Lucy Wood giving them a 3-1 victory at Oxford Hawks.
In the North Conference, Beeston hit back from a 1-0 half time deficit to win 3-1 at Doncaster.
Goals from Vicky Ward, Becky Eaton and Hannah Wraith ensured their victory, while Lauren Firth scored for Doncaster, who had a penalty stroke saved by Beeston keeper Lucy Dawkins.
