India, boosted by home support, has made it into the semi-final stages of the Women's Singles and Doubles in the Badminton competition at the Siri Fort Sports Complex on Monday.
Leading the assault is Saina Nehwal (IND), the top seed in the Women's Singles, who eased into the last four with an easy 21-7,21-10 win over Canada's Anna Rice.
Nehwal will now play Elizabeth Cann (ENG).
India's hope in the Women's Doubles, Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponappa (IND) also had the crowd cheering when they made it to the semi-finals with a 21-9, 21-14 win over England's Mariana Agathangelou and Heather Olver pairing in their quarterfinal clash.
Singapore's number one seed in the Women's Doubles Sari Shinta and Yao Lei survived a scare before they overcome the unseeded Australian pair of Leanne Choo and Renuga Veeran Vithi in their quarterfinal match which took a little over an hour to complete.
