Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars win first World T20 pool match

Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars vice-captain Alex Blackwell spoke following Australia's six-wicket win against South Africa at Jamtha Stadium in Nagpur on Friday.

Blackwell (42*) shared a match-winning unbeaten 52-run stand with skipper Meg Lanning (30* from 19 balls) after Australia was reduced to 3/9 in the fourth over.

Jess Jonassen (16) rebuilt the innings with Blackwell before being stumped off the bowling of Dane van Niekerk to bring Lanning to the crease.

Australia reached 4/105, chasing down the winning total with nine balls to spare.

Earlier South Africa made 6/102 after winning the toss and electing to bat. Opener Dane van Niekerk (45) top-scored South Africa reaching 72 without loss in the 13th over.

But tight bowling from quicks Lauren Cheatle (2/13) and Ellyse Perry (2/13) combined with spinners Kristen Beams (1/18) and Erin Osborne to restrict South Africa to 6/102.
