The Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars have defeated the West Indies by four wickets in the third WT20 INTL at the MCG today.
The West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first, putting on 6-149 from their 20 overs. The Australian side chased down their set target with one ball to spare, finishing 6-150. West Indies opener Stafanie Taylor was named player-of-the-match for her knock of 78.
Taylor (78) was the anchor of her side's innings and worked well with Deandra Dottin (19) and Shemaine Campbelle (24) before she was caught out in the 19th over off the bowling of Sarah Coyte (2-32). Along with Coyte, Rene Farrell (2-32) was the only other multiple wicket-taker.
Elyse Villani (28) got her side off to a solid start, finding the boundary on five occasions before losing her wicket in the eight over. Captain Meg Lanning top scored for her side with 51 and handed over to Alyssa Healy (25*) and Erin Osborne (8*) to push their side passed the set target. Anisa Mohammed (2-27) and Shaquana Quintyne (2-31) picked up two wickets apiece.
Sarah Coyte sustained a muscular side strain while bowling her final over of the innings. She will undergo further assessment to determine her eligibility for selection for the next match.
The sides will meet for the fourth and final WT20 INTL at Stadium Australia on Sunday. The match will be played as a double-header with the men's KFC T20 INTL match between Australia and South Africa.
