TeamBath once again proved why they are the top team on The Co-operative Superleague table with a formidable performance against Leeds Carnegie in Bath tonight.

Leeds Carnegie was able to challenge TeamBath in the first quarter with the lead changing several times until it became 16 goals each at the first quarter break.

TeamBath, who were lucky to come away with a win against Brunel Hurricanes in their previous match before the Christmas break, were not willing to make the same mistake twice.

From the first whistle of the second quarter TeamBath grit their teeth and went out to take the game away. TeamBath won this second quarter by 11 goals to make the half time score 37-16.

At half time England squad member Geva Mentor entered the game for TeamBath at GK in her return from injury. The winning streak by TeamBath carried on throughout the third and fourth quarters, and TeamBath netted an impressive final score 71-47.

A contented TeamBath coach Jess Garland said after the match ‘It was a good challenge in the opening quarter, great to see such a convincing response with a 21-10 scoreline in the second quarter. It was good to hit 71 score at this end of the season.

TeamBath Captain Pamela Cookey said ‘A good scoreline, a good team effort and looking forward to improving our game on Sunday against Glasgow.’

Leeds Carnegie Coach Marion Lofthouse said ‘We are really proud of the way they (Leeds) competed tonight, we fought back well after going 6 goals down and with a little more consistency with feeding our attacking circle the final score would have been closer.’

And Leeds Carnegie Captain Jo Davis said, ‘A great start to the game and the second part of the season. We have to work on our consistency over all 4 quarters.’
