In the only Premier Division game of the weekend, Reading women hosted Cannock at Sonning Lane and served up a wintry eight goal thriller. The home side benefited from their returning internationals with England captain Kate Walsh opening the scoring in the sixth minute and Alex Danson scoring a hat-trick before Helen Richardson rounded off the scoring in the 66th minute.

Jo Ellis also got on the scoresheet just before half time contributing to her side’s six goal haul. Reading moved up into sixth as a result of the win at the expense of Clifton, in the majority that had a fixture fall foul of the weather. Cannock remains a point above Olton & WW, with their local rivals now possessing a game in hand.
