Charley Hull is England’s number one

Teenager Charley Hull is England’s number one – twice over. The 15-year-old has
just become the first player to win both the ladies’ and the girls’ orders of
merit, sponsored by the golf holiday company Lorrin Golf.

The ladies’ order of merit tracked 460 players during 2011, while over 200
players figured on the girls’ table.
Charley, from Woburn, finished the season almost 500 points clear of Holly
Clyburn (Woodhall Spa) at the top of EWGA’s ladies’ table. In the girls’ order
of merit she was just over 600 points ahead of British champion Lauren Taylor
(Woburn).

During the season Charley won the English and Welsh strokeplay championships and
the Jones Doherty matchplay championship on Florida’s Orange Blossom Tour. She was also runner-up in the English amateur championship.

She was in England’s winning team at the ladies’ Home Internationals and has
just teamed up with Lauren Taylor take fifth place for England in the women’s
event at the Spirit International Amateur Championship in Texas.

Charley’s schedule is based around women’s events but she also made some junior outings at top-notch events: representing GB&I in the inaugural junior Vagliano Trophy match against the Continent of Europe, and playing for Europe in the PING  Junior Solheim Cup.
Charley is currently 11th in the women’s world amateur rankings.
