Canadian team for Lake Louise Winterstart World Cup
The start of the National Hockey League season might still be on hold but the country’s top ski racers will show they’re ready to face off against the best in the world when the Canadian team for the Lake Louise Winterstart World Cup is unveiled at a hockey-style event in Calgary, Alta., on Monday, Nov. 19.
A strong Canadian team will be introduced at the International Arena at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park at 10 a.m. MT. Then, a squad featuring Canadian World Cup racers, coaches and support staff will take on a guest team in a fun shinny game.
The Lake Louise Winterstart World Cup, which takes place from Nov. 30-Dec. 2 (ladies’ races), features the first downhill and super-G races of the 2012-13 Audi FIS Ski World Cup season. It also marks the beginning of the next step on the Road to Sochi as the nation’s top ski racers continue their preparations for the 2014 Olympic Winter Games.
Canada’s team for Lake Louise is set to include Calgary’s own Jan Hudec – the top Canadian on the alpine World Cup circuit last season – and fellow Calgarian John Kucera, the 2009 world downhill champion.
