CANADIAN PARA-ALPINE ATHLETES CLINCH IPC OVERALL CRYSTAL GLOBES

HAKUBA, JPN (February 25th, 2008)

Lauren Woolstencroft (North Vancouver, BC / Calgary, AB), and sit-skier Kimberly Joines (Edmonton, AB) clinched the overall titles following today’s races.

In today’s giant slalom event, Joines was the quickest in both runs and finished in a two-run time of two minutes 00.86 seconds to win by 3.28s. Joines also grabbed the GS discipline title with today’s impressive victory.

Woolstencroft finished third today in the ladies standing category which was good enough to secure the overall IPC World Cup title and clinch the giant slalom title as well.

In the Ladies visually impaired category, Kathleen Forestell (Ottawa, ON) and guide Sebastien Michel (Mont-Tremblant, QC) finished second with a two-run time of 2:08.68.

The IPC World Cup season ends tomorrow with a slalom race in Hakuba, JPN.
