BRYDON TOP CANADIAN IN WORLD CUP SUPER COMBINED IN CRANS-MONTANA

Emilie Desforges makes it two Canadians in Top 30

CRANS-MONTANA, SUI (March 9th, 2008) – Emily Brydon’s two-run combined time of two minutes 33.11 seconds was good enough for 17th in today’s World Cup super combined at Crans-Montana, SUI.

Brydon, who was in eighth position after the opening downhill run, ends the season 12th in the overall Ladies super combined standings after picking up 58 World Cup points in three races.

“I made a pretty big mistake out of the start (of the downhill) but the rest of my run was quite good and all in all it was a good way to end the weekend in Crans-Montana,” said Brydon, who finished seventh in yesterday’s downhill race.

Sweden’s Anja Paerson won today’s super combined in a two-run combined time of 2:30.80 with Germany’s Maria Riesch second and American Lindsey Vonn third.

Emilie Desforges (Montréal, QC) placed 27th.

Brydon heads to next week’s FIS World Cup Finals in Bormio, ITA in 10th in the downhill and fourth in the super G standings.

”It’s been a really good season to date. To be in the top 15 in three events right now is pretty cool and I know that there is more and that I can do better so I am just going to keep building,” said Brydon. “Something I always strive for in my skiing is consistency and I’m getting closer and closer to that every year.”

In fact, Brydon is still in the hunt mathematically for the Ladies super G Crystal Globe, currently sitting with 254 points which is 80 points back of Germany’s Riesch who leads.

The Ladies opening downhill training run for the FIS World Cup Finals takes place in Bormio, ITA tomorrow.
