BRA - Natália, Catanduva claim opening game of Brazil semi-final

CATANDUVA (Campeonato Nacional Feminino) - Natália drilled three of her five shots from behind the arc on her way to a game-high 28 points to lead Catanduva to a 108-72 mauling of São Bernardo in Game One of their Campeonato Nacional Feminino.

São Bernardo took a 22-20 lead by the end of the first quarter but Catanduva began to assert themselves on both ends of the floor over the next 10 minutes and held a 49-39 advantage at half-time.

In the third period, they pulled away, outscoring their opponents 34-15 and stormed to victory.

"To begin the semi-final series with a victory was very important," Natália said, before adding that she and her team-mates will not be taking anything for granted.

"But we know that we have a difficult adversary in front of us."

Catanduva made 12 of 25 shots from long range, and also converted 22 of their 26 opportunities at the charity stripe.

Adriana had 19 points, Karina 16, Karla 15 and Fabiana 11 for the winners.

Lilian scored 13 to lead São Bernardo.
