The tournament, which takes place in Valdivia, Chile, from September 26-30, offers one place in the 2008 Games.
Bassul said: "This is a young group, very energetic and with a great future. Our training period has been very helpful and we are working hard every day. The squad is growing and we will arrive at the tournament in good shape.
"I believe in the players' potential. We have to be patient and wait until the right moment. Then the team will prove their value."
Bassul has mixed youngsters, such as 19-year-old Franciele Nascimento, and more experienced players, such as 32-year-old Claudia das Neves "Claudinha".
"I am very happy to have the chance to represent the senior squad in a top-level competition like the FIBA Americas," said Nascimento.
"I have to thank the coach as he trusted in me. I am going to give my best to help Brazil."
