Battling GB Give Holland a tough time

The Dutch finished fifth in the last World Championships, but GB competed superbly with
their rivals and were just six goals down at the break against a side who could well provide
Olympic opposition in 2012.

After the clash, head coach Jesper Holmris said: “It was a great start to the tournament. We achieved our goals for the match and we did especially well in the first half, coming up against the best team we have faced to date.

“We were not quite satisfied with the second half but the fighting spirit and attitude was excellent throughout the whole game.” And Lorraine Brown, GB performance programme manager, added: “Holland are a top 20 side and finished fifth in the 2005 World Championships, so this result will give us confidence going into the other games. We’ve got lots of things to work on, but this result really shows how much we’re progressing.”
