Bandits re-sign Galindo and Friedman for 2011 season

Chicago Bandits GM Aaron Moore announced the re-signing of outfielders Vicky Galindo and Emily Friedman.

Galindo and Friedman have both agreed to contracts through the 2011 season.

A member of the Bandits since 2005, Galindo was named to the All-NPF team her rookie season. In 2010, she recorded a .228 batting average with 23 hits and 15 runs scored. While, Galindo saw limited action due to her commitment to the US National team, the Bandits are looking forward to having Galindo available for the entire 2011 season.

“Having Vicky in the lineup full time will be an incredible asset to our team,” said Moore. “She has the ability to produce big numbers this season, which will help us tremendously in the long run.”

Friedman joined the Bandits in January of 2010 after spending the previous four seasons with the Philadelphia Force. During the 2010 season, she spent the majority of her time in left-field. Her excellent defensive skills landed her a spot on the 2010 All-NPF Team. She was ranked third in the league and on the Bandits roster with a .304 batting average.

“Emily has been an incredible asset for the Bandits,” said Moore. “Since the day she joined the team she has found a way to contribute offensively and defensively each and every game. We are looking forward to what she can do this season.”
The 2011 regular season kicks off June 16 as the Chicago Bandits open their brand new stadium in Rosemont. Tickets for all 2011 home games are now available, including the Saturday, June 4, exhibition that will feature the Bandits wearing the classic uniforms of the Chicago Colleens from the days of the All American Girls Pro Baseball League. The Bandits will be taking on the Bloomington Lady Hearts.
