The Bandits were firing on all cylinders in today’s Fourth of July matinee as they beat the Racers 7-2 and extend their winning streak to four games. Today’s win was the Bandits second win in as many games against the Racers.

Michelle Gascoigne shut down the Racers allowing just two runs on five hits in the complete game outing. She recorded seven strikeouts in her third win of the season.

Rachele Fico got the call in the circle for the Racers, but was replaced in the third after giving up four straight runs. She pitched 2.1 innings, giving up five runs on five hits and suffered the loss.

Wiggins opened the scoring in the first with a sac fly that plated Emily Allard.
Tied at one run a piece entering the bottom of the third the Bandits scored four runs in a row to go up 5-1 off RBIs by Danielle Zymkowitz, Megan Wiggins, Kristen Butler and Brittany Cervantes.

Kaitlin Inglesby came on in relief of Fico in the third to finish out the game, but the Bandits offense wasn’t done yet. Kristen Butler hit her fourth home run of the season to give the Bandits a six run lead, recording her third RBI of the game.
Nerissa Myers scored both runs for the Racers, getting the first on an inside the park home run in the third inning while the second run came off a Bandits error in the sixth.

The Bandits look to make it five in a row tomorrow as the series continues at the Ballpark at Rosemont. First pitch is scheduled for 7:35 p.m.
