Baku European Games- Third bronze for Bartlett and Baughn

Acrobatic pair Ryan Bartlett and Hannah Baugh have completed a memorable European Games by taking their second and third bronze medals on the final day of gymnastics competition in Baku.

Their dynamic routine was full of energy, Ryan pitching Hannah above the floor and both showing superb synchronicity in their performance to score 28.650 for their second European Games bronze medal of the week.

Following that they wowed the crowd with their balance display, Ryan the rock solid base and Hannah contorted above him, the pair working in perfect unison scoring 28.260 for bronze number three.

Hannah said “It feels amazing, I love these medals, I can’t wait to get home and show everyone. The support has been amazing and we really appreciate it. To be in this multi-sport environment has been so much fun and so special for us. Coming in to this we were hoping for maybe one medal but to get three with five great routine is fantastic.”

Ryan adding “We’re so proud of everything we’ve achieved having worked so hard in training to win these medals. This is once in a lifetime moment for us and we’ve enjoyed every second of being out here and representing TeamGB. To do five clean routine is a great achievement the best experience of my life.”

The British group – Josie Russell, Jennifer Bailey and Ciceley Irwin – also competed in both the finals.Their balance routine came into difficulty when they were unable to fully demonstrate their first pose ending it early due to loss of balance which put them slightly off track, they recovered instantly and went on  to completed a great display to score 25.800 for sixth spot. Their dynamic routine was full of energy and well synchronized scoring 27.690 and placing them in 6th position.

The final gymnastics medal tally at these inaugural European Games stands at five, bronze for Ryan and Hannah in the mixed pair combined, balance and dynamic events, bronze for Brinn Bevan on pommel horse and silver for Kat Driscoll in individual trampoline.
