The Austrian duos celebrating their victory in Alanya
The Sub Zonal Phase tournament – Pool H came to an end this afternoon in Alanya with Austria capturing the first place in the women’s competition. After a couple of thrilling matches Austria finally cruised past Finland 3-1.

After their last match Sara Montagnolli and Barbara Hansel were very delighted with the result and their tough win against the Nyström sisters who are definitely one of the top teams in Europe.  “We did our best to win and we achieved our goal. We will be enjoying a more comfortable draw for the next stage of the Continental Cup and this is an advantage for us. Finally as a team we are very happy to be here in Alanya. Everyone working in the organization here was extremely helpful and I would like to thank them for all their efforts” said Montagnolli.

In the bronze medal match, Slovakia and Turkey fought bravely and the spectators at the “Milli Egemenlik Beach” witnessed two great tie breaks. Eventually Slovakia won the series with a 3-1 and was awarded with the bronze medal and the qualification to the Zonal Phase of the European Continental Beach Volleyball Cup slated for summer 2011.
