Athletes Earn Titles On Opening Day

ARVIN, Calif. – The 65th annual GOODE Water Ski National Championships, presented by
Speedo, kicked off Monday with 18 athletes earning national titles at Ski West Village near Bakersfield.

Among the highlights on Monday, 94-year-old Lucille Borgen (Babson Park, Fla.) eclipsed her
own record of being the oldest skier ever to compete in the Nationals. She was the lone competitor in the Women 11 division – created especially for her – and scored a ô€€-buoy at 75 feet (long line) to win the slalom title and 344 points to win the tricks title.
