Buenos Aires, Argentina, 2011 – Argentina’s girls’ youth team have a hectic build up to the 2011 FIVB Girls’ Youth Volleyball World Championship which is set to take place in Ankara, Turkey from August 12-21.
The side have been competing in the Women’s National League in the country since January in an effort to bond and improve as a team and in April they will continue their training across the country ahead of the first edition of the Junior Pan American Cup in Peru and the Youth Pan American Cup in Mexico, both of which they are taking part in.
Finally they will play the senior team in a series of friendly matches before returning to the Girls’ Youth World Championship for the first time since 2005. The country’s best position at the tournament was a seventh place finish exactly two decades ago in 1991 and the side nearly equaled that in 2005 with an eighth place finish. Argentina’s youth and junior team are No.21 in the FIVB world rankings.
