Anna Upton wins the Salford Aquathon

Salford Aquathon 3 July 5th 2007 Report from John Coxon


With the water in the impressive (but choppy on the night) Ontario Basin , Salford Quays at 14C and on a dull and overcast evening with a slight chill in the air ,

In the women’s race, Anna Upton was home in 34 minutes 23 over two and half minutes ahead of Sally Griffiths. About a minute later Elaine Blades came in with Wendy Proctor a minute later. Griffiths was the first woman home in the previous event in 37: 59 with Proctor and Blades second and third respectively.


The next race at the Quays Watersports Centre is scheduled for Thursday 19th July. The North West Committee has been working closely with Julian Wills (Triathlon England Equity Officer) and thus the event on the 23rd August will be fully inclusive (open to athletes with a disability ( AWADs).As usual the event is open to competitors on a first come first serve basis and the entry is restricted to fifty athletes.
