The BEDSAs, which took place in London on Saturday 6th April, are organised by race equality charity Sporting Equals and celebrate ethnic diversity in sport.

Agbeze, whoámade her international debut in 2001 and has won 100 caps to date, picked up her first BEDSA award after captaining the Vitality Roses to their historic gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia.

The 36-year-old, who plays for Vitality Netball Superleague team London Pulse, took home the award ahead of fellow nominees Dina Asher-Smith and Kare Adenegan.

The accolade comes after an impressive 12 months for Agbeze and the Vitality Roses.

After England’s triumphant moment at the Gold Coast, the team scooped Team of the Year at the Sunday Times Sportswomen of the Year Awards, the BT Sport Awards and the Sports Journalists’ Association Awards.

They also came out on top in a public vote against football, cricket, golf and boxing to wináGreatest Sporting Moment of the Year, alongside Team of the Year, atáthe 65th BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards.

Agbeze was also deservedly inducted into the England Netball Hall of Fame in September 2018 in testament to her contribution to netball in England.
