The Grass Roots Football LIVE All Stars line-up has been confirmed for the big kick off at the NEC, Birmingham on the 12th-14th June.
Grass Roots Football LIVE 2009 - Britain's leading grass roots football event – have signed up some of the biggest names in football to take on all-comers.
Over 20,000 football enthusiasts are expected at the NEC during the course of the three days and some of them will have the chance to play against their heroes.
Chris Kamara will be making his debut for the Grass Roots Football LIVE All Stars alongside Paul Merson, Steve Claridge, Neville Southall and Ray Parlour.
Bob Rosen, Managing Director of Grass Roots Football LIVE, is excited about seeing the All Stars in action, he said; “The All Stars’ games against members of the public are one of the highlights of the event.
“These players are legends of the game and they desperately want to keep hold of their unbeaten record.
“They won all four games last season and we have another four games lined up for them again this year – they tell me that they have been training pretty hard for it.”
Undoubtedly one of last year’s highlights was seeing the silky skills of former Arsenal and Aston Villa midfielder, Paul Merson.
The former England International can’t wait to put his boots back on and run out with his former team mates, he said; “I really enjoyed playing for the Mavericks last year and Grass Roots Football LIVE 2009 can’t come round quick enough.
“We have a great line up again this year and I am really looking forward to running out with the boys again – we have an unbeaten record to maintain.
“We have one of the world’s greatest ever keepers, Neville Southall, in goal and some quality players in the outfield.
“It was a great event last year and there was a tremendous atmosphere inside the stadium.”
Grass Roots Football LIVE 2009 will attract the largest number of grass roots football participants ever to congregate at a single event.
As well as event ambassador and former England and Aston Villa manager Graham Taylo, Wycombe and former England under 21 boss Peter Taylor, former Watford manager Aidy Boothroyd, new Blackpool boss Ian Holloway and many other leading Academy directors and coaches from the professional game will all be hosting coaching clinics.
