LAUSANNE (SUI), FIG Office, April 20, 2009: The ACRO Cup proved once again that high level Acrobatic Gymnastics goes hand in hand with an easy and relaxed atmosphere. The sports hall in Albershausen was crowded with senior, junior and age group competitors giving fantastic shows of skill from April 16 – 19, 2009.
Though the small, south-western German town is hard to find on the map, organisers still managed to get the world’s acrobatic elite to Albershausen using their own contact network. The international stars of the 2008 World Championships in Glasgow set the level here and provided tough competition for local competitors. The senior competition was a top-class, one of a kind acrobatic event, the like of which has not been seen in Germany for years.
In Women’s Pairs, 2008 World Champions Alina Yushko and Katsiaryna Muraschko impressed judges with synchronicity, grace and difficulty (85.412) relegating their competitors from Azerbaijan and Germany (TSGV Albershausen) to second (84.580) and third places respectively (83.931).
The Women’s Group from Zwolle (NED) took the Gold in the senior category (82.505), while the Group from SAV Mainz-Laubenheim (GER) ranked second (79.220) and the Czech Group took home the Bronze with a score of 78.530.

Although the 6th edition of the ACRO Cup was proof of just how difficult it is for local acrobats to compete with international stars, the organisers of the TSGV Albershausen Club were proud to provide a stage for both, and look forward to welcoming the world’s Acrobatic Gymnastics elite back to Albershausen sometime in the future.
