3-STAR VOLKL WORLD ROOKIE FEST HEADS TO ISCHGL AUSTRIA

Ischgl, Austria – April 11th 2008: Following stops in Italy and the Czech Republic along with many dedicated rookie events at the 1 and 2 star levels, the last World Rookie Fest of the season, powered by Völkl, will take place April 16-20, 2008 in one of the best parks in Ischgl, Austria. The rookies are set to throw everything on the line with big prizes and opportunities up for the taking including 550 TTR ranking points, an invitation to the Nokia Air & Style 08 Rookie Challenge in Munich, a filming session with Pirate Movie productions, and international sponsorships form Protest and Völkl.

The best youngsters have already been showcasing their best tricks at the previous World Rookie Fests with double corks, cab 10s, inverted 5s and huge airs stomped left, right and center. The bar has been set and expectations are high for what will go down in Ischgl. Red Bull rider and TTR No. 43 Manuel Pietropoli from Italy, rookie sensation Dimi de Jong from Holland, and TTR No. 19 Sarka Pancochova from the Czech Republic have already confirmed their presence along with many other talented rookies from all over the world in hopes of solidifying and continuing their bright futures in snowboarding.

The excitement is increasing as event organizers prepare for the final WRF installment of the season. “With the World Rookie Fests the youngsters have a fair and clear chance to enter the pro system: even an unknown rider can now be invited to the Nokia Air & Style, have contact with international media, join a film production company and get an international sponsorship” said Martin Freinademetz, snowboard legend and n. asa President.

Karsten Mohr, brand manager of Völkl Snowboards agrees: “Völkl is one of the first TTR Sponsors and one of the few Board Brands. The World Rookie Fest is an absolute highlight in the TTR Tour and in the snowboard sport it is one of the few events where enthusiasts do something for the 'offspring' of our sport. And this is exactly the reason why we see that it is important to support this great concept.”
