The 2013 Celebration of Women’s Motorcycling (CWM) scheduled for the Australia Day long weekend, January 26th-28th is gearing up and getting ready to head for the Upper Murray Resort (www.uppermurrayresort.com.au/) near Walwa Victoria/Jingellic in NSW.
From record breaking to pioneering adventures, outback touring to mustering stock, women have always been a passionate and important part of Australia’s rich motorcycling history.
This event is about getting together to share experiences and celebrating women in motorcycling.
The 2012 CWM saw almost 100 female riders ride into Yackandandah, Victoria, for the inaugural celebration with the first Woman of the Year award being presented to land speed record holder Kim Krebs.
Nominations for this year’s Woman of the Year can be made on the Australian Riders’ Division website (www.ard.org.au).
Answering the previous year’s call for a little luxury, the Upper Murray Resort offers great accommodation and is the venue for the formal Woman of the Year dinner and award presentation on the evening of the 27th.
Located amongst some of Australia’s finest riding countryside and just off the Murray River Road, Jingellic is an easy day’s ride of about 500Kms from Sydney or Melbourne.
Accommodation at the resort is being snapped up fast, but, the Bridge Hotel in Jingellic has additional accommodation and for those looking for a more rustic experience, there is plenty of riverside camping nearby.
Attendees can expect a gold coin donation social breakfast gathering on the Saturday and Sunday morning, post ride wind-down movies, rides and prizes plus the award dinner.
Cost is $75 which includes the award presentation dinner, T-shirt and registration. Pre-registration is essential to attend the dinner and confirm T-shirt sizes for printing.
