2012 World Pentathlon Championships - Rome- Esposito Beats Big Guns in Group A

The surprise packet of the 2012 season, Chloe Esposito (AUS) has won group A at the Women’s qualification.

The young Australian, who is competing in a World Championships for the first time, ended up easily beating her more famous opponents Amelie Caze (FRA) and Lena Schoneborn (GER) who both looked in fantastic form and qualified with relative ease.

Last year’s silver medallist Sarolta Kovacs avoided a huge scare. The double junior World Champion after started 18th in the combined event, but manged to run and shoot herself into the haven of a top 12 position.

Highly ranked Eva Trautmann, and Margaux Isaksen was not so lucky, crashing out and will be watching the final from the sidelines on Saturday.
