2009 U.S. Bronze Medalist Caroline Zhang Announces Coaching Change

Colorado Springs, Colo. - Caroline Zhang, the 2007 World Junior champion and 2009 U.S. bronze medalist, announced today she has ended her five-year professional relationship with coach Mingzhu Li and will train with Tammy Gambill.

"I am grateful for my time with Coach Li," Zhang said. "She has not only been a great coach for the past five years, but also a good friend to me and my family."

Gambill, the 2005 U.S. Olympic Committee Developmental Coach of the Year, coaches 2008 Junior Grand Prix Final bronze medalist Richard Dornbush. Her former students include 2007 U.S. junior bronze medalist Austin Kanallakan, 2003 U.S. junior champion Dennis Phan and 2008 Junior Grand Prix Final qualifier Amanda Dobbs.

"I'm looking forward to continuing to grow and mature as an athlete while training with Tammy," Zhang said. "I feel that she can help me improve my skating and reach my goals."

During the 2009-10 season, Zhang finished fourth at Trophée Eric Bompard, eighth at Skate Canada and 11th at the 2010 AT&T U.S. Figure Skating Championships. She wrapped up her season with a bronze medal at the 2010 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships in Jeonju City, Republic of Korea.

Gambill said she looks forward to working with Zhang.

"Caroline is a tremendously talented skater," Gambill said. "I am excited for the opportunity to begin a new and hopefully successful chapter in her career."
