WT20 competition primed for big finale

Australia’s top female cricketers will take centre stage this Friday, with the WT20 final between the Konica Minolta Queensland Fire and the Tradies ACT Meteors scheduled to precede the KFC T20 Big Bash League (BBL) BIG FINAL at the WACA in Perth.

Network Ten will broadcast the WT20 final via ONE HD, which will commence at 11.05am local time, live and exclusive ahead of the KFC T20 BBL BIG FINAL between the Perth Scorchers and the Hobart Hurricanes that follows at 4.45pm local time. ABC Radio will also provide ball-by-ball coverage of the WT20 final.

This season was the first time that semi-finals were played in the WT20 competition. The Tradies ACT Meteors knocked off defending champions the Lend Lease Breakers, which also finished top of the 2013/14 WT20 ladder and had not dropped a match in that format all season. After finishing third on the table the Konica Minolta Queensland Fire upset the second-placed Commonwealth Bank VicSpirit in their semi-final, with a convincing eight-wicket win.

This is a history-making occasion for the Meteors, which qualified for its first ever domestic final. While the Fire has previously competed in two WNCL Finals, this will be its first crack at the WT20 title.

The two teams last met in two WT20 matches just prior to Christmas, with the Fire winning on both occasions.

In order to enter the venue to watch the WT20 final, fans will need to have purchased a ticket to the BIG FINAL, which are available via http://www.bigbash.com.au/match-centre/fixture

The match will be live scored on www.livescores.cricket.com.au, while you can also follow updates via Twitter: @qldcricket @cricketact @SouthernStars
