Hannah, an England girl international, is in the U18 squad. Three other players are in regional Select squads: Midland ladies’ champion Alex Peters, 13, from Notts Ladies’, Helen Searle, 14, from West End, Yorkshire, and Becky Gibbs, 16, from Burnham and Berrow in Somerset.

The team was completed by Charlotte Hope from Wrotham Heath in Kent and Katherine O’Connor from Tadmarton Heath, Oxfordshire. All six girls qualified for the team from the national schools’ championship.

In the match England trailed 2-1 after the morning foursomes but overpowered the Scots in the singles, winning five of the six games. Hannah and Alex both scored maximum points.

Last month, Hannah also captained English schoolgirls to a win over their Welsh counterparts.
