Former Northern Thunder head coach Marion Lofthouse has been appointed Thunder's Director of Netball. Lofthouse, who resigned as head coach at the end of last season, has been involved in North West netball for many years and will be helping to build the club's squads in both the Co-operative Netball Superleague and the Netball Talent League.
Peter Ferneyhough, director of Northern Thunder, commented: "Marion's experience will be invaluable as the club aims to build really strong squads in both the Superleague and at youth levels. Her first job will be to take charge of the Thunder team in its televised game at Team Northumbria on Monday evening.
"We are also delighted that Caswell Palmer will continue to work with the team under Marion's guidance. Caswell has had a difficult task in coaching the squad this season, after losing many of last season's players immediately prior to this season's registration deadline.
"We are confident that they will create a strong coaching team which will drive Thunder forwards with energy and enthusiasm."
Northern Thunder is the North West’s franchise in the Co-operative Netball Superleague, England’s premier domestic competition which features eight regionally based franchise teams. Northern Thunder's game against Team Northumbria, at Gateshead Leisure Centre on Monday evening at 7.00pm, will be televised on Sky Sports Xtra next Thursday evening from 5.00pm.
