The Phoenix went into the match as firm favourites after finishing the preliminary rounds on top of the ladder with just one loss all season. But a determined Kestrels line-up refused to be intimidated by their more fancied opponents and muscled up to the Phoenix in a very physical encounter to be on level terms at the end of the first quarter.
