Lili and Vieira aiming to maintain improvement at London 2012 test event
London, Great Britain, August 12, 2011 – With a place in the quarterfinals secured Liliane Maestrini and Angela Vieira will do their utmost to ensure that they continue to make further improvement at the Visa FIVB Beach Volleyball International.
“I think we are growing over the competition,” Lili said. “The first match wasn’t so good, but the second was better and the third better again. Today we did really well and tomorrow we have a hard match. We will give everything we can on the court and get our mind right.”
The Brazilians held off Estonia’s Mari-Liis Graumann and Anu Ennok in the round of 16 with a 21-10, 21-13 victory. In their group stage the duo won three from three, against Britain’s Denise Johns and Lucy Boulton, Tealle Hunkus and Heather Lowe of the United States and Canadians Jamie-Lynn Broder and Ashley Voth.
The Brazilians are in line to meet the winner of the round of 16 match between number one seeds Zara Dampney and Shauna Mullin of Britain and Spain’s Alejandra Simon and Andrea Garcia Gonzalo.
“Of course we have to do something different tomorrow,” Lili said, “but I think all the teams here are really good. Today we played our best and tomorrow we will play our best.”
