FIVB Girls Youth World Championship- China beat battling Serbians

Ankara, Turkey, August 12, 2011- – The record holder China began their journey at the FIVB Girls Youth World Championship with a straight-sets win (25-15, 25-18, 25-14) over the last competition silver medalists in Pool A match at Baskent Hall in Ankara, Turkey on Friday.

 The three times previous champions dominated the match due to their efficient service that disturbed their opponents throughout the match and the hard fighting in defense. The Chinese wing spiker Ruoya Xu was her team best scorer (16 pts), while Serbia’s Bianka Busa lead her team scorers (14 pts)

 The Chinese wing spiker  Ruoya Xu proved here consistency in the first set and sent her razor sharp hits from position 4 allowing her team to lead constantly till they won the set 25-18.

 Serbia began the second set with a different strategy as they used their setter Sladjana Mirkovic to set her skillful combinations mainly to the outside hitter Bianka Busa and Natasa Cikiriz and they led 8-6 at the FTT. Serbia stayed ahead till the second technical timeout. Again China worked well in reception and backline defense to comeback through their attackers Xu and Fang Duan who bring their team ahead again 22-18. the serbain players started to commit some mistakes that allowed the Chinese to jump forwards winning the set 25-20.

 Serbia came out in the third set and deployed their block against the Chinese attacks. Busa played a great role with her strong hits that deceived the Chinese block and Serbia continued ahead with the widest score 8-3. it wasn’t easy thereafter for the Serbian girls to continue the same after the Chinese team returned back to their fighting spirit but they struggled to stay ahead 16-12 at the STT with the team captain Busa playing a great role.

 China came on time as usual winning the critical points of the set through the skilful combinations of the setter Bei Wu who set a lot of good balls to her teammate to bring up the difficult victory of the set 25-23 and the match in straight sets.
