England Women's captain launches Ladies Day

England women’s captain, Charlotte Edwards helped launch Warwickshire CCC’s exclusive “Ladies Day” to be held at Edgbaston on Tuesday June 26 as she posed alongside the current Miss England, Miss Birmingham, Miss Worcester and Neil Carter on a Beauty Bus in Birmingham City Centre.

The first event of the day, on Tuesday June 26, will be a game of Women’s Cricket on the main square when England ‘A’ will take on an Invitational XI in a Twenty20 match.

Edwards, England’s leading run-scorer, is looking forward to being part of the day, “I’m really excited about playing here ahead of a men’s Twenty20 Cup game. It is great that Warwickshire CCC are embracing women’s cricket and encouraging them into the game. Women’s cricket is one of the fastest growing sports in England and Wales and it’s great to have this kind of support from a county cricket club.

“It looks set to be a great day with the beauty bus, champagne and various other stalls catering purely for women and I’m confident we’ll produce some great cricket to entertain the crowd.”

To keep with the ‘girlie’ theme all the ‘ball boys’ will be banned and ‘ball girls’ for both matches will be selected from the Warwickshire CCC Girls Youth teams.

Elsewhere on the site, after a Pimms Reception, Ladies will be pampered by a Beauty Bus which will offer massages, facials, manicures and even a tanning facility. There will be a one hour seminar with Beauty specialists Helen E in which all ladies will receive a complimentary gift. Special guests for the day will include Katrina, the face of Helen E and famous for her appearances on ITV’s Airline. Several Beauty Queens from around the country will also be present passing on glamour and fashion tips.

Other exhibitors include the Flower Studio, Wolfblass wines, Champagne giants Verve Clicquot and Jam Production who are bringing along a giant chocolate fountain with a pink theme. Orijanique will be bringing along a stunning and unique range of accessories including handbags and jewellery made from real flowers.

Neil Carter, who met with Miss Helen E and Charlotte Edwards this morning is certain Ladies Day will be a great success, “Cricket is not just for boys anymore and Twenty20 is fast and exciting for the spectator. So after the ladies have had their pampering and drinking they should be ready for the main action when the Bears take on the Steelbacks that evening.”
